Pranayama is the yogic practice of controlling the breath. It follows the physical practice of asanas and is the beginning of the inward journey of yoga. The benefits of pranayama include better respiratory health as well as the ability to calm the mind and body. Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep and refers to the conscious awareness of the Deep Sleep state. In Yoga Nidra you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state and then go to deep sleep, yet remain awake. The state of yoga nidra is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. Time spent in yoga nidra opens us to deeper clarity. It is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading us to a supreme stillness and insight..
